29 year old photographer & creative living in NYC

A young woman sitting on a windowsill in a room, smiling and holding a camera to her eye, with another camera placed beside her. The room has a large window with a cityscape view outside.

I started with disposable cameras and never really stopped.

What began as documenting my friends and family slowly turned into capturing everything from nature to creative photoshoots. I ended up studying photography in school, but not with the intention of pursuing photography as a career. I knew I’d always be taking photos no matter what. So when I realized people were willing to pay me to do what I love I finally felt like I had a purpose.

Photography is how connect with the world and hold onto memories.

I’m less interested in perfect poses and more interested in energy and movement. The moments in between “smile!” and the actual laugh.

mackenzie.jpg is a play on the “jpg” file names that hold our lives, because at the end of the day, that’s what this is. Tiny digital memories that end up meaning everything.
